For People

Training and Development

PSI Global firmly believes that its people, with their knowledge, experience and dedication, are the company’s most important asset, and is therefore committed to reinvesting a significant proportion of its turnover in staff training and development.

This commitment is evident throughout the company: staff across all departments, including the company’s senior management, benefit from access to regular training programmes.

Recent examples of staff training include:

  • NVQ Workplace organisation: all team leaders are working for level 3 and shop-floor operative staff are working for level 2. Team projects undertaken as part of the course have resulted in significant productivity improvements.
  • Language training: as part of the company’s commitments to its overseas customers, over 20% of the workforce took part in introductory courses in French, German and Italian. The language training not only improved communication with customers, but also contributed to a greater understanding of the company’s international markets.
  • Literacy and numeracy: all staff are encouraged to undergo assessments for basic literacy and numeracy, with personalised training offered for those who need further support.
  • Advanced management training: several members of staff are currently working for higher degrees and professional qualifications.

Training needs are re-assessed on a regular basis, ensuring that all employees are able to benefit. The culture of development is firmly entrenched throughout the company, such that all staff members who are taking time out from the workplace for training can count on the support, encouragement and back-up of their team members.
